About Us
The Farm Experience
The Apartments, on the second floor of a working barn, the Yurts, and the Tiny Cottage are well insulated from the cold and the smells and noises of the animals and machinery, but a lot depends on the weather and the moods of the animals.
On especially snowy days the tractor starts up early and is noisy (the upside is it means it's going to be a good powder day). The animals on the farm include horses, ponies, dogs, rabbits, goats, a bunch of sparrows who have colonised the barn, and chickens. Outside we are frequently visited by the local wildlife including deer, tanukis, flying squirrels, foxes, snow rabbits, eagles and owls, and occasionally, bears.
We are remote, on a hill top, with some impressive weather. In winter it is cold, very snowy, and often windy. It is an experience, it is an adventure, but not necessarily everyone's cup of tea.

The main attraction for most people in winter is to ski Kiroro or the back country.

In summer, the farmstay experience is perfect for relaxing and rejuvenating, surrounded by lush greenery, farm animals lolling about, and occasional encounters with the wilder neighbours in the forest, best explored on horse back.

Nearby Ski Resorts
Kiroro ski resort is a 6-8 minute drive away and while we offer a free shuttle in the morning,
8.45 and evening 16.00, we recommend guests have their own vehicle
(for access to the resort, surrounding backcountry, onsens and other cultural and dining delights).
Kokusai Ski Resort is a little further afield and can be reached by car or back country over the top of the divide. Down the valley towards Otaru are Asari Ski Resort and Tenguyama Ropeway.
